“One Life” – a magical story of unlikely survival
As a healthy non-smoker and non-drinker, dying of a heart attack was simply not on George’s
mind.
Then he had a massive heart attack – and died.
“You’re one very lucky guy”, said his cardiothoracic surgeon when George woke up three days
later after being resuscitated on stage, rushed to hospital and operated on for five hours.
As one of only 10% of people who survive a cardiac arrest outside of a hospital, George now has
an amazing story to tell – and he tells it in the best way he knows how.
Through magic!
As he shares his story of painful recovery, further complications, anxiety, depression and PTSD,
George, a Master of Illusion, weaves in magic and humour to both entertain and drive home
important health messages.
George’s story conveys critical health lessons we all need to hear – and he shares them in a way that makes people listen.

A personal message from George
“As a survivor of a cardiac arrest, I am greatful to those who were around me and assisted with CPR.
I was one of the very fortunate ones who was around people who knew what to do and even more fortunate that a lifesaving defibrillator was
available. If it wasn’t for fact that a defibrillator was available and that it was used promptly, I would not have survived.
CPR alone will not restart someone’s heart that is in cardiac arrest.
For this reason, I am now on a mission to educate the public on the importance of a defibrillator and how to use one.
We need more of these lifesaving devices available to the public so many more lives can be saved.”
